HEUTE IST MOUNTAIN DAY!!!!!

Mountain Day
Cowgirls and Cowboys

Established: 1896Mountain Day is the oldest tradition at Juniata, in existence in some form since the late 1800's. On a beautiful fall day, classes are canceled and everyone flocks to one of the state parks in the area for a day of outdoor fun including a picnic lunch, nature walks, crafts, music, tug-of-war, and the spirited faculty/staff vs. seniors co-ed flag football game. However, the most unique element of Mountain Day is that no one knows in advance when it is going to occur! Trying to guess the date of Mountain Day is one of the most-popular topics of conversation among the students and faculty in the weeks leading up to the event.
Students are advised to dress in a western theme. They should also bring a bathing suit and towel. The main event this year will be a mechanical bull. There will also be canoeing, tug-of-war, and various other activities. The event this year will be at Canoe Creek state park. Buses will be departing from Ellis starting at about 10:40. Lunch will be served from 11:00 to 1:30. The last bus will depart from Canoe Creek sometime around 3:00. We hope that you will join us for a day filled with fun activities and good food.
